Nice beach if you like high surf. This must be the most windy point on the entire island. Bring your board or rent one here. Cabin H3 was adequate for four people. Right near the beach. Rains about every night (July). Close to north shore (Shark's Cove, Turtle Bay for snorkeling), Polynesian Cultural Center and the Kualoa Ranch (Jurassic movie valley). Grocery, Pizza, Tacos and Subway about 5 min drive. The shower is just a cold water hose attached to the tree and the bathroom is an outhouse. You shouldn't expect resort comforts at a campground, eh? We stayed a week and were getting tired of the rain, wind and sand the last two days and ready to move on to a condo with a bathroom, bed and kitchen. Other groups in the campground can be large and noisy. Music with loud speakers one night was pretty loud with about 40 native people singing and dancing near our cabin. A second night there were French people who decided to sit on our porch to get out the rain. They woke us up with their conversation exactly 3 feet from our open cabin door. Although there is a 7 pm driving curfew, don't expect a super quiet experience every night. However, this place is probably way better than the state park campgrounds along the road. There you could expect constant traffic, homeless people and thieves. Malaekahana is private with some security.

Our favorite place to camp in their little Huts. We've been going here for years the white sandy beach in the seclusion of fantastic just make sure you do your homework and you know what you're getting for your money. They used to have really cool yours and bigger cabins but now they're all really small, but I guess it could be better than flimsy tent. And the bathrooms have doors and actually flushing toilets. There's plenty of places to get food down the street. And you can burn your own firewood and catch crabs at night with your flashlights. Absolutely beautiful!

My family of three stayed here in September (in H-7). We read all the reviews and knew what to expect. We enjoyed ourselves for the most part. However, a warning to the wize. Our last night there one of our suitcases we had on our balcony (just three feet from my sleeping head - open door) was stolen. When they say bring a lock, they mean it. And do not trust that even with an open door the criminal element isn’t just outside your door.

Beautiful location with interesting people, but I forgot to ask the Toronto girl for her email. I've stayed almost 3 weeks in November, but departed early because I couldn't stand the strong Trade Winds anymore. It's very exposed to wind so make sure to watch the weather forecast before going there. Beach is ideal for surf beginners but the rental is not up to swiss standards.

We did however leave a hammock just outside on the beach for you to enjoy, just be smart.

We were looking for some place cheap on the beach. Our Hale had a mattress that was too large for the frame, so it curled up on the wall side. Not very comfortable. Still, it was cheap, and 50 feet from the beach. The waves were good for surfing, and there were some good food trucks within a short drive.
